UK Climate Research Unit Hacked

Examiner.com reports that the UK's Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia suffered a security breach in which thousands of e-mails and documents were accessed. The stolen data was posted to a Russian server.

According to BBC News, a university spokesman says officials there are aware of the breach, but:

because of the volume of this information, we cannot currently confirm that all of this material is genuine ... This information has been obtained and published without our permission and we took immediate action to remove the server in question from operation.
