Two Arrested in UK for Zeus Trojan Scheme

UK authorities have arrested a man and a woman, both 20, for allegedly using the Zeus Trojan in a scheme to steal online banking information, reports eWEEK.

Authorities believe the Trojan was configured to steal victims' online bank account information and passwords, in addition to credit card numbers and other information. Detective Inspector Colin Wetherill of the Metropolitan Police's Central e-Crime Unit, says:

The arrests represent a considerable breakthrough in our increasing efforts to combat online criminality.

Zeus has been in the news of late. Late last month, the Zeus banking Trojan was involved in an attack on Facebook. The malware also was involved in a spam campaign earlier this month that targeted the National Automated Clearing House Association.
