Patch Tuesday Fixes Eight Flaws, Warns of IE Bug

Microsoft's March Patch Tuesday releases saw only two bulletins patching eight vulnerabilities. According to InformationWeek, both bulletins, which affect  Windows Movie Maker and all versions of Microsoft Office Excel, are rated as "important."

Patch Tuesday also came with a warning about a new zero-day vulnerability affecting Internet Explorer 6 and 7 that Microsoft says is already being targeted in the wild. ChannelWeb explains the vulnerability:

Specifically, vulnerability occurs because of an invalid pointer reference within Internet Explorer, which could allow hackers to launch malware when the pointer reference is accessed after an object is deleted.
