IBM to Buy Database Security Startup

After pursuing the Israeli database security startup for a year, IBM plans to buy Guardium for $225 million, reports Ha'aretz. IT Business Edge blogger Susan Hall notes that Big Blue plans to integrate the company into its Information Management Software portfolio.

According to The Register, the deal is expected to close today. Guardium has reportedly been holding out for a sweet enough deal to benefit its 60 employees.

While Guardium grew out of Israeli firm Log-On Software, it is officially an American company. It is unclear whether the Israeli origins of its initial technological development have any tax implications.
