GAO Blames U.S. Agencies for Nuclear Data Leak

The Government Accountability Office is blaming five government agencies, the National Security Council and two congressional offices for the inadvertent publication of sensitive information regarding hundreds of civilian nuclear sites, The Washington Post reports.

In June, a draft declaration of U.S. nuclear facilities to the International Atomic Energy Agency was available for about a day on a Government Printing Office Web site. Among the agencies that the GAO says share the blame are the departments of Commerce, Energy and State, the GPO, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the National Security Council. None of the agencies marked the document with security designations.
