EMC, Intel, VMware Join Forces for Cloud Computing Security

This week's RSA Conference saw the announcement of a partnership between EMC, Intel and VMware to improve security and regulatory compliance in cloud computing, according to a Network World story on SFGate.

No product will result from the parntership, but rather a demonstration of how the companies' technologies can be combined to increase security in the cloud. The companies will offer a proof-of-concept that service providers can use to help customers build private clouds within their firewalls.

CBR quotes Pat Gelsinger, president and chief operating officer of EMC Information Infrastructure Products, as saying:

For the cloud to mature into an enterprise-grade platform running high-value business processes and data, we must be able to trust the security of the underlying physical and virtual infrastructure without question.

Today most organizations have little to no visibility into what's occurring within the infrastructure layers of clouds, making it impossible to verify their security. Together our companies are demonstrating that internal and external clouds can be visible, measurable and reportable for the secure management of a company's most important business processes.
