Does Apple's iOS 4 Patches Leave iPad Vulnerable?

As part of Apple's recent iOS 4 upgrade, the company patched a record 65 vulnerabilities in the iPhone, with more than half of them considered critical.

However, the first-generation iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as the iPad, may be be at risk to some or all of the 65 bugs, reports Computerworld, as the operating system can't be installed on 2007's iPhone and iPod Touch, and the upgrade is not scheduled to reach iPad owners until this fall.

It's unclear how many, if any, of the vulnerabilities affect Apple's iPad, but according to the CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) database, it's likely that many of the bugs still exist in the iPad's iPhone 3.2 operating system.
