Cisco Snags ScanSafe for $183 Million

In a $183 million deal, Cisco has purchased Web security company ScanSafe, reports Forbes.

With the Web security market expected to grow to $2.3 billion by 2012, Cisco is looking to ScanSafe to expand its portfolio of security products and services. According to internetnews.com, Cisco plans to integrate ScanSafe's service with its AnyConnect VPN Client to help provide a secure mobile VPN solution.

ScanSafe, which has 150 employees, counts Google, AT&T and Sprint, among its customers, notes TheStreet.com. The deal is expected to close between  November and January.
