The Arkansas National Guard has lost an unencrypted backup storage drive that contained the names, Social Security numbers and other unspecified personal information of more than 35,000 guardsmen, reports eSecurity Planet. Officials say the drive was last used in November to back up personnel information dating back to 1991.
The National Guard calls the breach an "isolated incident" and says it has been reported to U.S. CERT, the National Guard Bureau and U.S. Army privacy authorities.
